What possesses a grown woman, a mother, to behave like this towards a child??

Federal prosecutors in Los Angeles are considering charging a woman with defrauding MySpace for allegedly setting up a fake account and harassing a Missouri teenager who killed herself after receiving cruel messages on the site, according to reports. A federal grand jury has subpoenaed Beverly Hills-based MySpace as part of a probe into the suicide of Megan Meier, 13, who thought she was communicating with a 16-year-old boy on the social networking site, the Los Angeles Times reported.





Megan Meier commited suicide after being harassed on My Space. The messages turned out to be fake sent from an account overseen by the mother of a former friend of the girl. Megan, from suburban St Louis, Missouri, hanged herself in her bedroom after receiving upsetting messages from a fictional boy she had befriended online, including one which said the world would be better off without her.

What possesses a grown woman, a mother, to behave like this towards a child??
I can't imagine a mother harassing and setting up a young girl (who she knew was mentally ill) like that. It's a shame there are no laws to punish her. How can a mother do that to another mother's child, especially knowing Megan was being treated for a mental illness? She seemed to have had ulterior motives and delighted in this young girls mental anguish. It's sad that there can be no justice for Megan and her family. 2D

Reply:An extremely immature and vindictive nature, as well as an inability to reason through the possible consequences of doing such a thing. Much as she may have had personal reasons for disliking the girl in question (her daughter and the victim's friendship had broken down), it was clearly wrong to harass the girl, and most adults would know that.





One of the reasons that My Space is being subpoenaed is that (apparently) there is no law in place to charge the mother for having created a situation which led to the death and she has got away with this, so far. That's surprising, isn't it?

Reply:I think that whenever this happened its a terrible tradgedy. Why on earth would anyone do this, grown woman or not? Maybe a high school bully pushing the limits into extreme bullying but this is some thing else. I would think she should be charged with ( i am not american so i will put my understanding on American law) 2nd degree murder, causing the death of a minor. She may not have had a gun in her hand but her hand was almost certainly the culprit. Fraud for impersonating a minor on the internet. Child abuse for putting a little innocent girl through this in the comfort of the girls home where the girl should of felt safe and it was instead turned in to the crime scene. And finally abuse to her own daughter if her daughter was in on this disgusting shirade althugh if she was i suspect charges could be brought against her.

Reply:Why would a parent do that!!! That's so immature and didn't show her own daughter much guidance. I hope she's happy now that she has the death of this young girl on her hands!!!! It's so not cool to send people horrible messages like that especially a girl at that age because they are so self conscience and care about what boys think of them. That gave this girl such low self esteem.I wish she would have talked to someone because it isn't worth losing your life like that. That mother is cruel and obviously doesn't have a heart!!


Just think how this girls parents are feeling because of that womans stupidity!!! They lost their daughter
