For example, on a social networking dating site, a guy posts a photograph of a girl he dated with some comments about the girl. Are there any legal implications by posting a photograph of another person on the website? If a photograph is illegal, can the guy post an avatar instead? The avatar (animated image) will not identify the girl and a nickname will be used instead of the real name of the girl.
What are the legal implications of posting a photograph of another person online? Can I use an avatar instead?
You shouldn't post someone else's photo without their permission. They could object and get you kicked off the site.
If you link it to a derogatory comment you're in deep trouble, you could find yourself in court and having to pay compensation ~(can't remember if its slander or libel but a recent case won the victim $10,000).
As for an avatar, its probably safest to cover your back and ask your date for permission in writing. You might also like to tell your dates that you'll be grading them in public, and again get written permission.
Reply:I think the idea of rating your date in public is tacky. Some people might not mind I guess, just be up front and make sure everyone knows the score; otherwise you're just being skanky. Report It
Reply:You just shouldn't post a picture of somebody on the internet without their consent. It's bad manners
Reply:using someone image without consent can land you in court, using it while posting nasty comments will get you in a load of trouble. why not just getover it and get a life.
Reply:1) I would get the persons permission, as you could get in sum legal trouble.
2) Any bad mouthing or anything that is untrue could also be counted as slander which could get u in trouble
