What will happen when you "block" someone in YM?

I have this childhood friend whom I haven't seen for like 17 years. He has found me through a social networking website around 2 years ago. We kept in touch for like a year though emails and IM’s before finally seeing each again for the first time after several years (He lives in another country by the way). I thought everything was fine until we came across each other's religion. We went back home and that's when my nightmare began. He started attacking my beliefs (through IM’s). At first it was fine with me since I am used to such things but he became really personal. He even insulted my family. I've had enough of everything when he told me that "you are going to hell." I blocked him that instant in my list. I also blocked him in my email. Uhm, would he know that I have done that? Because I can still see him when he is online. And what will happen exactly when I block someone? Will I still appear on his list? Just want to know. Thank you very much. ^^,

What will happen when you "block" someone in YM?
I beleive you are still shown on his list but never online. The emails and IMs will still go through but be filtered out so you don't see them. If you want to just delet his user name off your im so you will not see it too. Since you have already blocked him it should not change anything for you.
Reply:well...he won't know Logically but he'll keep seeing you on his list but you'll alwayz appear offline 4 him,,,but there are many easy ways that he can knw trow them f u r online and f u blocked him or not, bt i gus he dosn't knw them f he's nt that pro,,,and propeply he has sent u maaaaaany msgs bt u didn't reseve them coz when u block sm 1 u'l nt be able 2 reseve his msgs bt he'll think tht u reseved them........i hope i helped u......ummm i dun wanna gt deep inside bt u really should talk wif da guy,,,ppl alwayz do mistake...forgivness is good ...gud luck
Reply:yes, he appears on his list but he cannot see if you are online and he cannot message you. You cannot message him either.
Reply:They will get an email stating you blocked them and it will include your address so they can hunt u down ......Sucks HuH
Reply:when you block some1 you apear offline to them and you dont receve there meseges. you can unblock some1 jsut as esey
Reply:They let him know he has been blocked and he would have to get another account to contact you.
Reply:He won't know..It'll just show up as you not being online.
