Online Friends, Trustworthy?

I'm 16, average guy.

So I met this friend online on a social network randomly and it has almost been a month. We like to talk to each other and it is my birthday next week. She asked me for my mailing address so she can send me something as I live in Canada and she lives in America.

I'm still wondering if i should. I need some help. If I give it to her, what can she possibly do with it? Can I be in danger of any kind? Please, I don't know what to do. Declining it wouldn't be nice, but I don't want to cause any problems. Please help. Thank you.

Online Friends, Trustworthy?
dont do it she could be a rapist and not even a girl at all i dobt that she is but still dont do it not to sound rude or anything well if your going to do it tell the adress of a post office or somthing becuase people uve only known for a mounth shouldnt know your adress please dont tell her until you know her and trust her more
Reply:If you have already given out your address you should let your parents know what you have done and they can decide on the appropriate action to take, you should never meet in person with anyone you have met online if you are only a teenager.
Reply:Breathe, do not give her adress. Just from that she could know everything about you. Create a p.o box so you can send stuff both ways. Search tips on how to be safe online. For all you know you are talking to a 75 yearex- rapist.
Reply:y is this in fish?

Tell your parents. They will know more about this. Please don't give her any more personal info.
Reply:The whole "he/she could be a 50 year old rapist" is a scare tactic introduced by the media. It's not as common as everyone makes it out to be. You're 16 years old, you met her in a social network. Come on. She isn't gonna send you a pipe bomb, she just wants to send you something for your birthday. Don't worry so much.
Reply:You could always set up a PO box address, that way it's not your direct home address. Not sure!
Reply:I think this is somthing you need to talk to your Mom and Dad about because of your age.

I dont think its a good idea for you to give your personal info out to anyone on line because you have no real way to tell if they are who and what they say they are or even that they live were they say.

Be safe ask Your mother or father.
Reply:Did you recently watch the news? Some kid died just telling an address "trusting" that the other person wouldn't do anything. It's up to you. Want to give your personal address?
Reply:as a minor you should talk to you parents before giving their address to someone you don't know in rl
Reply:As long as you are a minor I also agree that you need to discuss this with you're parents. If you choose not to discuss this with them just tell her that a Happy B-day online will do for now. Be Safe!
Reply:It depends on! Firstly, I want to ask you why do you have a Chinese name? Are you Chinese? I have a Chinse friend on interracialmatch.com, and she often tells me a lot about china, it is a great country with too many prople, right? And I think my this online friend is trustworthy.
Reply:In all probability she's NOT some raving psycho serial killer, but just to be on the safe side, don't. One month is kinda short to be letting her know your real-world contact info. Maybe she can send you a gift card from some online shopping website or something that wouldn't have to be sent to a street address if she really wants to give you something.

If you want a way to decline nicely that won't make you sound like the bad guy, try "Sorry, my parents won't let me give out our address."
