Well, honestly.. I am rather notorious for my dislike of on line social networking.
I believe it encourages social laziness.
I believe it encourages a "shopping" attitude toward other people instead of building the social skills necessary to interact with people who are different. It encourages the view that people are commodities to be gathered en masse and discarded when they are no longer convenient.
I believe it encourages a shallowness in interaction that is unhealthy and unfulfilling.
Does it have an impact on youth? You betcha! For the reasons above, just to name a few.
What is the influence of online social network on our youth.?
Zilch--NADA
Reply:It can be a very positive thing, networking with a vast variety of cultures world-wide,
BUT only if parents utilize the controls that are built in (but seldom used) to every computer.
The fact that parents don't take the time to monitor the usage of the 'net' is the main reason the internet and social networking is deteriorati ng our youth.
Reply:i would have to say there is a strong influence on youth
Reply:it did but its just mundane now
Reply:Its like the TV- boon and a curse. Personally, talking from the point of view of someone who lives away from home, I can talk to long time friends from India through social networking. Friends that I have not been in touch with for years, i have been able to get in touch with. I enjoy that.
But on the other hand, social networking can be a curse. So many people fall prey to online predators- like sexual perverts and the like- through online social networks. Also, online social networks are not really comparable with real social networking. In real social networking, we are able to judge people on a first-hand basis. We are right there. But, online we can't do anything about what people say online- they may be telling the truth, but everything should be taken with a grain of salt.
Reply:Huge! To think people thought TV and radio impacted youth!
It gets them friends from all over the world. It is especially wonderful for the shy and unpopular, and youth who are different in some way. It provides a social network they might not have.It also connects them to predators from all over as well as many who are more or less harmless but NOT who they claim to be.
Still with caution and parental guidance, I believe it is a fantastic thing.
Reply:It naturally has a very strong impact on the youth..it is nothing to fear about nor it is very safe either. we get to meet lot of people...all kinds of them. and the main point to be noticed here is what we look out from the social network. if you are looking out for making friends, leaning new things, geting your doubts clarified and being more social..then this is a wonderful opening....but on the same side if u are looking out for some thing distracting like adult content, flirting or time pass, it can be very dangerous.
The reason this can be very dangerous because any person can put up a false profile and mislead the user. since we do not come to know the true identity and believe the false profile chances of getting into trouble is too high.... the choice is yours what u want is what u get here....
Reply:Personally i find it the best thing that could happen to people with a genuine interest to expand their social networking. It gives your the immense power to hook up with anyone anywhere.. gain info, share thoughts, clear doubts, discuss problems, find love so on and so forth. Clearly it has it problems when misused or used for mere cheap thrills. Through the net i've managed to catch up with old frens and make many more too. Whats the influence.. its positive for people who do it with a purpose.. total time pass for ones who just wanna kill time!
Reply:It results in flirting and adultery.
