I recently got a computer company to update my system to windows xp pro,?

but have realised that they have used a pirated version, my pc is not doing too well and is blocking me from using certain sites, e.g signing on to my online banking, going into the cashier on my poker account, downloading certain software etc.

I have also noticed that there is no security centre on the control panel.

The message that comes up when i try on get on my bank etc

is THIS PAGE CANNOT BE DISPLAYED, check network settings,

the same page that you get when your connection is down.

I am using broadband and have noticed that the it is running very slow despite having a fast connection.

I have tried to resolve this problem, by checking the firewall, defrag, fixing broken registry links does anyone have any ideas what could be causing my problems.

the company i originally used have dissapeared of the face of the earth, and as i am disabled and housebound, my pc is my world giving me my social life etc.

so obviously money is a problem.

Check if there is a red icon at the bottom right of your internet explorer when it doesnt let you on the banking site...if yes double click it, comes up with window displaying cookies for the page...right click the one for your bank. select always accept cookies from this site and close the window. If that doesnt do it......click tools on your IE and select internet options.....select connections tab....LAN settings......tick automatically detect my settings.This should work.

Your STEALTH feature is advertised: “Keep your boss in the dark. With handy Stealth settings in Yahoo! Messenger with Voice, you can appear online to some and offline to others." Please, where does corporate greed stop? Is Yahoo! so desperate to 'grow' it's profits that it is willing to lose its terrific reputation and lower itself to scum by offering a product that encourages employees to deceive their employers into thinking they are doing the work they're being paid to do, when all the while they're really working on their social life. And the ad makes it sound like a fun and proper thing to do! Are we now to lower our standards of morals and business work ethics in the name of corporate greed? Can't you find an ETHICAL product to sell, like your corporate web site says you're supposed to?

Suffice to say, I won't be expanding my network of Yahoo! services until I see from Yahoo! that it takes good morals and ethics seriously. I'm also discussing this with everyone I know.

I am looking for a law firm that will sue the State of Illinois at the United States Supreme Court in Washington DC, which would be the original jurisdiction under Article 3, Section 2; controversies between a State and a Citizen of that State. Reply:Good luck..the supreme court gave the police more leeway when it comes to entering a suspect home..they used to have announce they were there before forcing their way in...but because of concern of destroying evidence the police only have to announce their intention as they bust down the door.

You have better chance of suing the county for the injury at the library...best you separate your suits so as not to make it look like you are just an opportunist.

Also been homeless for 3 yrs many years ago..at least you have shelter access...best wishes.

On the week of Halloween celebration of this year, CNN reported that Nickelodeon was brainwashing the children over the United States by showing other children who are standing up for their beliefs. It was January 28, 2007, when Nick News with Linda Ellerbee presented “Rebels with a Cause” about five stories of children who aren’t afraid to take actions on their belief. All of the five stories are based on controversial social issues that we are facing as a society today. The first segment was about children take action on child labor used to produce clothing for United States consumers. The second segment was about a boy spoken out against the use of torture on prisoner with suspected terrorist connections. The third segment was about children hoping to bring attention to the negative impact high stakes testing on instructional methods and to eventually change the state law. The fourth segment was about the animals rights of how animals are being abuse in the circus. The last segment was about a girl who does not support the War in Iraq and even protested at the State Capitol in her home state. All of the stories showed the Nick News with Linda Ellerbee is happen in the moment and they are very important act forward. But the most contentious segments were the second and last segment of the “Rebels with a Cause”. The CNN people made a big deal about how a cartoon network like Nickelodeon was showing serious controversial issues to children who are turn to their network to watch cartoon not to informal what is happening in the United States and the world. On the Halloween night, CNN invited children psychologists to their program and they ask them how did the action of Nick New with Linda Ellerbee showing the episode was dramatic or not to the children. Then they asked the viewers to send their comments on their blog board website. On the online article of John Stephenson, he reported that one of the members of the Army Wife Toddler Mom website makes a statement “This Nickelodeon “news program” is not a news program. It is a leftist primer on how to be a “left-wing radical rebel.” I strongly disagree with this statement; the Nick News with Linda Ellerbee had been more informal than the local news. Children today are smarter that they are able to establish their own opinions faced in front of them. If any of segments were additionally reported in any local news and cable news programs recite. No one will be making money for the corporal businesses.

“about children take action” should be “about how children taking action” or “about how children should take action”.

“a boy spoken out against” should be “a boy speaking out against”.

“impact high stakes testing” should be “impact of high stakes testing”.

“the animals rights of how animals are being abuse in the circus” should be “animal rights and how animals are abused in the circus”.

“All of the stories showed the Nick News with Linda Ellerbee is happen in the moment and they are very important act forward.” I’m not sure what you are trying to say in this sentence. Perhaps you meant to write, “All of these Nick News stories are happening right now, and they are very important to our future.”

In “the second and last segment” segment should be plural: “segments”.

“who are turn to their network” should be “who are turning to their network”. Also, cartoon should be plural: “cartoons”.

“not to informal” should be “not to become informed”.

This sentence is also difficult to understand: “On the Halloween night, CNN invited children psychologists to their program and they ask them how did the action of Nick New with Linda Ellerbee showing the episode was dramatic or not to the children.” Change “children psychologists” to “child psychologists”, “they ask” to “they asked”, and “how did the action” to “how the action”. I would rewrite this whole sentence thusly: “On Halloween night, CNN asked child psychologists how the Nick News program would affect children.” That’s much shorter, to the point, and easier to understand.

“to send their comments on their blog board website” should be “to post their comments on the CNN blog”. All blogs are websites, so you don't need to say it. Blogs and boards are both types of web sites, but they aren't the same. It's either a bulletin board or a blog.

Nine men dressed in dark tailored suits meet behind high, Red walls. Their secret meeting place in downtown Beijing is called Zhongnanhai, or "Middle and Southern Lake." Once part of the Forbidden City, Zhongnanhai was a place where emperors, concubines and eunuchs would spend their days concocting court intrigues. Some of the buildings from those feudal days are still standing today, joined by functional, gray and white structures built when the Chinese Communist Party established its headquarters here.

The nine men -- who constitute the Standing Committee of the Communist Party's Politburo, the most-powerful political body in the Middle Kingdom -- meet in the southern section of this refuge. Their discreet meeting is businesslike. The group's members were not elected by the people and they are not interested in being observed while governing. None of the members of this sombre squad is known for his charisma. President Hu Jintao, 64, the head of state and Communist Party leader, and his eight colleagues are stiff technocrats. Hu, the son of a tea merchant from Jiangsu Province, holds a degree in hydroelectric engineering. The others are trained in fields like electrical engineering, metallurgy or geology.

But the discussions and decisions made here within the ranks of China's Politburo affect the well-being of 1.3 billion Chinese -- and increasingly the rest of the world. If the Middle Kingdom were not a country, but rather a giant company -- let's call it Red China, Inc. -- then the Politburo would be its all-powerful board of directors.

And if Hu were not a communist official but rather a capitalist corporate boss, he would find himself inundated with job offers worldwide. Competitors in the capitalist West can only dream of the successes he and his fellow communist leaders *** business executives have achieved.

Hardly a day goes by on which Asia's giant, Red corporation does not report new and dazzling business figures. And the more helplessly Western heads of state -- from United States President George W. Bush to German Chancellor Angela Merkel -- attempt to reform their traditional market economies, the more enviously the capitalist world eyes China's frenzied growth, all the while asking itself: Does communism work after all?

China's speedy ascent to become a global economic superpower is troubling to many: to the industrialized nations of the West because they fear for their jobs; to politicians because the global balance of power is shifting; and, last but not least, to economists because it is so puzzling to them.

Economists' theories are based on the recognition that market forces alone drive economic growth. The state's only role is to ensure that competition functions and that no one is able to abuse his power in the marketplace to an inadmissible degree.

A Midas touch

For these economists, the fall of the Iron Curtain offered glaring proof that their hypotheses were correct. Indeed, planned economies in Soviet bloc countries were failures, creating poverty instead of affluence and leaving industrial wastelands in their wake. Yet China is flourishing. With a blend of a planned economy and unbridled capitalism that you won't find mentioned in any textbook, the country is capturing world markets and achieving double-digit growth year after year.

Hu and his Red board of directors appear to have something akin to the Midas touch. With their country, which amounts to a gigantic, low-cost factory, they have already managed to accumulate more than $1 trillion in foreign currency reserves. In theory, at least, the communist People's Republic of China, has now joined the United States, the global capitalist superpower, in deciding the fate of the world's leading currency.

In 2005, China leapfrogged over France and Great Britain to become the world's fourth-largest economy. The country's new spot in the rankings came as the result of an omission on the part of its communist bosses: Already blessed with so much growth, they had simply forgotten to include a large portion of their giant service sector in China's economic statistics.

American sinologist Roderick MacFarquhar is astonished by China's performance. "Never before," says MacFarquhar, "has so much wealth been created by so many people in such a short time span."

If China continues to grow at the same pace, it will oust Germany as the world's third-biggest economy in only two years, perhaps even dethroning the United States from its leading position one day. In 2005, China was already the US's second-largest goods supplier and Japan's largest. Not satisfied with being No. 2, Beijing's strategists are continuing their plans to shower the world with inexpensive products such as T-shirts and DVD players -- and, increasingly, with Chinese high technology.

A fast-developing tech sector

China recently surpassed Germany in the number of patents it registers. With its latest five-year plan, the country's Communist Party has set itself an ambitious goal of catapulting China to world-class heights in the fields of science and technology. According to the plan, Chinese probes will orbit the moon next year and land on it by 2010. China's space ambitions also include a bizarre aural spectacle: Its lunar orbiters will transmit 150 pop songs back to earth, including a Chinese tune titled "We Love our China."

The Communist Party's economic successes aren't its only impressive achievement. Chinese cities are safer than places like São Paulo or Bogotá, and they seem cleaner and more orderly than the slums of Nairobi or Soweto in South Africa. Beijing and Shanghai boast a lively cultural scene, and broadband Internet access is already taken for granted in the country's major cities. Mobile phone reception is even available in small villages.

Communist Party leader Hu and his Politburo colleagues aren't the only ones behind the changes that have swept across this vast country. True, they are responsible for coming up with the overriding strategies behind China's economic miracle, and for this task they take the necessary time -- hours that Western politicians waste doing the rounds on talk shows. But the Politburo also routinely solicits advice and reports on the latest global trends in science and business -- on issues running the gamut from biotechnology to health insurance -- from academics in so-called "study sessions." This being a communist land, these sessions would of course be incomplete without the requisite lectures on China's revolutionary history and Marxist theory.

The State Council, China's cabinet -- headed by the pedantic and schoolmaster-like 64-year-old Prime Minister Wen Jiabao -- deals with the day-to-day business of government. The cabinet meets at least three times a month, as required by law, in a building located a stone's throw from the offices of the Politburo. Meetings are graced with tall beauties dressed in red outfits and white gloves, who serve cabinet members green tea from the Wuyuan district in Jiangxi Province.

In addition to Wen, this inner circle of the Chinese government includes four deputy premiers, five members of the State Council (including one general) and a secretary general. Comprised of eight men and two women, the group directs and coordinates the work of 28 ministries and commissions, including the country's central bank and its central auditing authority. It also presides over an immense number of government agencies, including China's official news agency, Xinhua, the Academy of Sciences, the customs agency, the weather bureau, an agency in charge of grain production and distribution and -- not to be overlooked -- the Administration of Government Offices, which provides high-ranking officials with living quarters, cars and vacation homes.

All the elements in the network that make up Red China, Inc. come together in Wen's State Council. The body controls daily life in China with a plethora of decrees, memorandums, plans, measures and responses. In the month of September alone, it issued a decree on the "Administration of Payment of the Automobile Sales Tax," approved "Basic Regulations for the Electricity Market" and organized "Safety Inspections of Dams that include Power Plants."

A decade and a half after the collapse of the Soviet Union, a communist country appears to be relentlessly transforming itself into an economic superpower. Its recipe for success is, at first glance, the five-year-plan -- one which dismayed Western politicians have routinely dismissed for such features as its ban on private ownership of land and its manipulation of currency exchange rates.

Having your cake and eating it too

But five-year plans are only one side of the coin in China's vast realm. The other is a wildly unfettered capitalism geared solely toward naked profit. And when it comes to turning a profit, hardly anything seems sacred anymore, not even for China's communists. The Great Hall of the People in Beijing is a case in point. If the National People's Congress doesn't happen to be in session or President Hu isn't using the magnificent building -- with its more than 300 rooms and enormous paintings depicting scenes from the revolution -- to receive foreign dignitaries, the government simply rents it out. Recently, US automaker Ford used the building to unveil its latest line of car models, and fast food giant Kentucky Fried Chicken opted for the elegance of the Great Hall to hold a meeting of its more than 2,100 Chinese restaurant managers.

Ironically enough, while economists in Europe and the United States advocate "less government" and "open markets" as a response to globalization and the Chinese challenge, the Marxist-Leninist party that rules China blatantly avails itself of every advantage of capitalism while steadfastly refusing to give up state control over the economy.

ICBC, a major Chinese bank, recently conducted the biggest initial public offering in financial history, floating shares worth the equivalent of $22 billion on the Hong Kong and Shanghai stock exchanges. In a win-win situation for China's communists, the bank's value rose to more than $200 billion, and yet Beijing retains control over ICBC. The country's three largest telecommunications companies are also state-owned. Two years ago, the Communist Party simply reshuffled senior executives among the three companies.

First of all, communism, as a porduction method, doesn't exist since the dawn of men. What China, Russia, and all the former 'red' nations live by, or lived by, it's socialism, an hybrid of pure communism.

Now, going back to the China issue. China's more capitalist that many of us want to acknowledge. Remember Karl Marx used to talk about how the basis of capitalism was to generate plusvalue through the exploitation of the labor force, something China's proven to do perfectly with it's low wages and control of inner market.

I see China as a two-faced country. On one side, you have Hong Kong, Shanghai, and all those fancy cities were progress and industrialization are present. And you have the rural China, wre things haven't changed much since the times of Mao.

So the success of a mode, or way, of production depends on the culture, traditions, and behaviour of the society were they're imposed. I'm sure socialism would be ghastly for the USA, but alo there are places in the world were ful-on capitalism has brought poverty and huge social differences.

I think if you read history and observe what is in process at any given point in time you would see that systems begin in opposition and slowly adapt to each other. Of course revolution is a exception to that. What is happening in south America right now is an example of adaption. What is going on in China is the same only further along. Suggest you read Karl Marx you are watching the implementation of his directions. Wealth dose not co notate intelligence, or compassion, on the other under-educated, poor and starving people will eventually at tact the "king of the royal mountain", we must in very short order devise a new system which is fair to all, and rewards according to contribution to all of mankind.

Those people under communist rule had poorer health, shorter lifespans, greater unemployment, fewer products to meet their needs %26amp; extraordinarily poor service. Long, long lines for everything they wanted to buy; groceries, clothing - you name it, they waited %26amp; waited %26amp; waited. Service was poor because there was no incentive to do a good job.

The video shows Wayne Pelhank delivering a 5-day notice Wayne Pelhank style and shows the Bloomington Police who were called as 911 assisting him. Suing the State of Illinois?
Often, local newscasts and newspapers have a reporter which specializes in consumer complainst or miscarraiges of justice. Look into who might cover your case from the local media, in order to get some free publicity, and to lend some validity to your claims. This might even draw attention from a lawyer, who may then want to take the case pro bono, or for a sign-off on the percentage of a monetary damage claim.

During the Halloween week of this year, CNN reported that Nickelodeon was brainwashing children in the United States by showing other children who are standing up for their beliefs. On January 28, 2007, Nick News with Linda Ellerbee presented “Rebels with a Cause” about five stories of children who were not afraid to take actions on their belief. All of the five stories are based on controversial social issues that we are facing as a society today. The first segment was about how children should take action on child labor used to produce clothing for United States consumers. The second segment was about a boy speaking out against the use of torture on prisoner with suspected terrorist connections. The third segment was about children hoping to bring attention to the negative impact of high stakes testing on instructional methods and to eventually change the state law. The fourth segment was about animal rights and how animals are abused in the circus. The last segment was about a girl who does not support the War in Iraq and even protested at the State Capitol in her home state. All of these Nick News stories are happening right now, and they are very important to our future.

A CNN program made a big deal about Nick News program that how a cartoon network like Nickelodeon was showing serious controversial issues in television. Children are turning to their network to watch cartoons not to become informed what is happening in the United States. On Halloween night, CNN asked child psychologists how the Nick News program would affect children. Child psychologists were against on the actions of the Nick News program, they said that Linda Ellerbee, the host of Nick News was an anti-war, anti-military and liberal person who is pushes leftist propaganda on kids. Then they asked the viewers to post their comments on the CNN blog. Most of the viewers were Christian conservative parents who do not celebrate Halloween. The CNN network needed to entertain their viewers; they knew who would be their audience on Halloween night. They found controversial stories to entertain their audience and they found the Nick News story that was additionally half year old. In addition, the commercials showed were kind of conservative bias. They showed Christian advertisements focusing to sell Bible in CD’s and DVD’s or Christians Charity commercials.

Beside what CNN was showing, online blog website was full of angrily comments against the Nick News with Linda Ellerbee “Rebels with a Cause” episode. Nevertheless, the second and last segments of episode were the most contentious segments that people will for irritated and crazy. Most of the people were angry on the boy of the second segments who was calling for the impeachment of the President. In addition, the fourth segment, the teenage girl blames America for what is happening in Iraq. The girl placed some images and videos that look she got them from Al-Jazeera network in her segments. In an online article, John Stephenson reported that one of the members of the Army Wife Toddler Mom website stated “This Nickelodeon “news program” is not a news program. It is a leftist primer on how to be a “left-wing radical rebel.” I strongly disagree with this statement; the Nick News with Linda Ellerbee had been more informative than the local news and even CNN. Children today are smart enough to form their own opinions on the issues they face. The member of the Army Wife Toddler Mom website posted that the address and contract information of Nickelodeon and asking the bloggers to call or write a letter to Nickelodeon people to fire Linda Ellerbee for brainwashing our children.

Hi, Thanks for helping a confused to-be senior ^_^

Well, this year their is lots of pressure on me for choosing a major and ultimatly a college.

The problem is I was doing some research online and found that business major in general isn't profitable as it sound because occupations like docters, lawyers, engineers has a better staring wage and future wages and not to mention job oppurtunites.

That is why I am second thoughting taking a major in business.

The first reason I choosed business was because I like straegy, leading a unit and out-thinking oppenents type of things. SO if you have other major that might fit this description, I will like to hear from you

or you can explain why a business major might be worth pursuing.

P.S. I come from a below middle class family

So I dont have much "experimental cash" or a well networked social circle with rich people.

First, I'd suggest you take more English classes to improve your written-communication skills. Spelling and diction, along with grammar, is critical in ANY field.

Secondly, sure, if you want to make money, go be a doctor. Something most people don't tell you is that lawyers don't make much money, very few are RICH. And engineers can make cash, but it's a highly competitive field. If you're not the best, you won't make much.

The trick is: Pick a career that you'll ENJOY. It's not about dollars as much as it is about liking what you do. I have a friend who has a high-paying job in the stock market. He works from 8 in the morning to 10 at night. Sure, he makes 120K a year (maybe more), but he hates his job, and his next several years will be doing something he HATES.

I make 40K a year, live comfortably, and I enjoy my work.

Find something that you'll like. Then worry about cash later.

Reply:When I was at high school (not so long ago) the people I had the most respect for, and who I continue to admire, are the ones who transcended the cliques.

They had the ability to strike up a conversation with anybody, to drift in and out of various groups, never had a cruel or hurtful thing to say about anybody, and if anyone was nasty to them they could just let it slide. It takes some courage and confidence to be that person, but I think you'd look back on you senior year and be proud of how you behaved.

i asked a similar question, but it was in regard to race.. Im not that great about meeting women out of the blue.. I live in a college area, where tons of women reside. I see beautiful women everyday, but never know what a great approach would be, since most women look shook out their boots when they walk the streets... I dont want to come off as creepy, i just want to come off as an interested nice guy, who would love to get to know them.. Bar Hopping is played, and im not looking to join some crazy social network just to meet women. Im an individual, and i stand tall all by myself. I work, and i go to school.. Yes i have interests, and just hope that i can meet a woman the natural way, instead of an online dating site....is that too much to ask?

You're making it more complicated than it is.. Women like to be approached, you just have to scope it out the right way and be sensitive to her signs. K, so you are in line at a coffee shop/grocery store/whatever, and someone catches your eye.. does she hold your eye contact? or does she look away immediately (if so move on man).. Do you ever catch anyone looking your way in class? Ever have a woman ask you a random "do you know the time" question? There are so many times that I've wanted someone to talk to me, and looking back they had no clue. No matter how progressive and foward thinking we ladies of the new millenium are, we still don't wanna be the ones chasing.. Most women I know would love if a good looking guy came up and said "I'm sorry to bother you, but I just wanted to tell you that I think you are amazing...Hey, no pressure, just wanted to let you know" If you don't wanna be creepy, don't be creepy then. Don't feed generic lines, be genuine..Be relaxed, confident and not overbearing or desperate in your tone and manner and you'll be good. What's the worst that can happen, anyway?

Do you have any idea how many times we women get oogled and disrespected on a daily basis? Whistles and cat calls galore. Ew. The genuine and respectful approach will be much appreciated and welcomed.
Reply:Be patient....you will meet the lucky lady. Women really like to become friends with a man before anything else develops. Maybe a co-worker of yours is interested in you, but you just haven't opened your eyes to see her. Be attentive, I am sure women give you the look on a daily basis. Don't wait for the women in business attire, you also have to look at the women in jeans a t shirt.....she may wear business attire by day, jeans by night.

Why would anyone want hundreds of friends! What about meeting people face to face in the real world instead of adding so-called digital friends via computer, announcing them like they do in elementary school. For the younger crowd that's fine but for the 30 and 40-something mature folks--eh, I'm not sure. Seems kind of silly.

In any case, the quality of the friendships is greater when the network is small. When you keep increasing it, the quality of the bonds weaken.

How can a person keep up with that many 24/7 or are they just pretending they're close to them all - reflecting a beefed up image to the site viewers?

I'm talking about older Myspace users in the 30 and 40 age range, not teens or those in their 20s.

As for me, I'd rather meet a person in front of my own nose because that way I know who I'm dealing with. The old-fashioned way of making friends in the real world sure beats online social connecting.

i go 2 a all boys school. i guess the only gd thing is i went to a mixed primary school. i am 14. i am not gay.

the problem is i cant get a girlfriend.

in primary school, i had behaviour problems and i had an appaling reputation. i would hit teachers and attack people.

i am okay looking. im about 5"8 but i am obese i am about 14 stone although i have a good muscular build IMO.

so, after much pressure from my mates i finally got bebo last week. its a social network like myspace. i see that all my friends are going to parties with girls and kissing. this is embarrasing but i have never kissed a girl.

so i found this girl on bebo who i liked in primary school. i left her a comment saying: just how ya doing xx.

she hasnt got back to me yet and its been 2 days but shes been online

i really really want a girlfriend and i feel the odd one out. i live with my mum ( my dad left us when i was 1 )

Obama's Tipping Point? Not Yet.

On Wednesday I wrote that "depending how March 4 shakes out, [the Potomac Primary] results--and the likely Obama wins in Wisconsin and Hawaii--may help determine the Democratic nominee by the ides of March." My thinking went like this: After eight (and maybe 10 straight wins), the Illinois senator will lead at that point by more than 100 pledged delegates--but it won't be enough to reach magic number (2,025) by the end of primary season in June. Looking ahead, the 400 uncommitted Democratic superdelegates--the only people with the power to put either Clinton or Obama over the top--will have a choice: 1) prolong the contest through the convention, ensuring a messy, divisive battle involving Florida, Michigan and back room wheeling and dealing or 2) move en masse to the "people's choice" and get busy uniting the party for November.

But is Obama's tipping point coming sooner than even I expected? Yesterday afternoon, the New York Times (among others) reported that Rep. John Lewis, an elder statesman from the civil rights era and one of Hillary Clinton’s most prominent black supporters, is suddenly planning to cast his vote as a superdelegate for Obama in" hopes of preventing a fight at the Democratic convention." “In recent days, there is a sense of movement and a sense of spirit,” said Lewis. “Something is happening in America, and people are prepared and ready to make that great leap.” Hungry for news on a slow day, the media responded with typical breathlessness. "Floodgates could open," wrote Time's Mark Halperin, a reliable peddler of Beltway CW. "If Lewis breaks away, take whatever you thought Clinton’s chances of winning the nomination before and divide that number by as much as two — those would be the odds of her winning now."

Whoa, nelly. Not so fast. Sure, Lewis's "defection" is significant--but in a limited sense. For one thing, it's not really a defection; instead, Lewis is still endorsing Clinton (for the time being) but promising to cast his superdelegate vote at the convention with his Atlanta-area district, which voted three-to-one for Obama--if it comes to that. Lewis's confusing stance symbolizes a very specific political challenge facing black elected superdelegates--and black elected superdelegates only. If Obama maintains his lead among pledged delegates, members of the Congressional Black Caucus who have endorsed Clinton will face enormous pressure to switch sides. Like Lewis, many represent districts where Obama earned 85 to 90 percent support among black voters--meaning to defy their constituents and cast a vote that lots of people would see as stealing the election from the first black president would be tantamount to political suicide.

Over the past few weeks, there's been a slow drift of superdelegate support from Clinton to Obama. Not counting Lewis, Obama has gained 12 superdelegates since Feb. 5, while Clinton has lost a net of three. But until we start seeing a greater number of pols making the leap to Obama without such political pressure, I think it's a bit early to say the floodgates have opened. It may happen; it may not. But any potential tipping point is still a ways away.

In addition, Obama can now denounce all he wants to but how could he be a parishioner for 17 years and listen to these types of statements if as Obama NOW states are "outrageous"?

I think that we need to realy questiob Obama's truthfullness or question his judgement. In either case, the country should seriously reconsider any support for such a candidate. It is frightening that Obama's paltform really emphasizes "change" and his real agenda would seem to indicate other.

We need to change our support to Senator Clinton and assure her success in November.

UPDATE, 11:51 p.m.: Searching my inbox, I noticed that the Obama campaign has announced seven superdelegate pickups since March 4. So there might be something to my "steady drip" theory. With seven weeks until Pennsylvania, a constant stream of superdelegate endorsements is a good way to create the impression of momentum--whether or not the supers in question decided to endorse today, yesterday or last month. Conversely, a sudden flood this week might've struck observers as a show of pre-March 4 support--and left them wondering whether Obama could keep attracting superdelegates after Clinton's wins in Ohio and Texas. Now it *looks like* he is.

What is the point of Yahoo answers?

If you have a question you can google it and recieve precise researched responses. There is Wikipedia and numerous other online resourses. I did originaly think answers might be fun but apparantly fun is strictly against the rules of Y/A. Answers that are chatty are deleted so that eliminates any possibility of a social network. So what is the point. It seems to me that Yahoo are using the answers site as an excuse to deactivate accounts and so generate new accounts that gives the stockmarket the impression of burgeoning popularity. A quick scan of the internet shows that Y/A account deletion is a scandal that is discussed all over the internet. Yahoo`s reputation is being dragged through the mud and the potential worth of the Y/A site is negated by the consant deletions. If we are supposed to just ask robot questions and give robot answers that we have looked up on google it`s hard to see the point.

I have tried the online dating sites, myspace, volunteer groups, the bar scene, the club scene, the sports scene ( I play basketball). I still can't find anyone that I click with even as friends. I just moved to a part of the country where I don't know anyone. I am in my mid 20's and I would like to have some sort of social network. I think I am attractive and nice. None of my coworker's can believe I am single . I just want to meet real people not through the net. I talk to everyone and people think it's annoying.

Where can I meet people for dating? Besides the Internet!!!!?

There's only so much time in the day to dedicate to relationships. Why do people want digital "friends" numbering in the hundreds? I would have to say most of them are probably acquaintances. How can anyone develop deep quality relationships with that many? Isn't quality important anymore? Why is quantity valued moreso as reflected by the amassing of huge numbers of online "buddies?"

To me, less IS more. I believe the strength of the ties/connections weaken as the bonds increase, whereas the smaller the social network, the more time one has to invest in those relationships.

Please share your thoughts on this...

It's the social butterfly syndrome. The more friends you have, the more popular you look. Popularity is an importance, although socially and mentally degrading sometimes to individuals who starve for attention. It's unfortunate, but they may grow up.

Why would a stranger ask you to send your picture to them at their personal email address?

I belong to an online social community. A man asked me to send a picture of myself to his personal email address, and was very insistent. I sent him a picture through the community network, but he insisted I send it to his own email address. At first he wanted a "sexy" picture but when I told him no, he asked for a head shot. Some of his comments were very sexually suggestive, so I was suspicious and didn't respond. Can anyone tell me if this sounds like some kind of scam?

Hee hee, have your tried Sword of the New World? Its a quest based MMO that has some of the best graphics I have ever seen! It is more of a classic MMO however...so no building.

Hmm.. the only other one I can think of is Neverwinter Nights. It's fantasy based and you get to make up your own quests.

Oh and there is also "There" but that a Second Life clone. And Eve online but its space themed...but you do make and sell stuff.

Obama's Tipping Point? Not Yet.

On Wednesday I wrote that "depending how March 4 shakes out, [the Potomac Primary] results--and the likely Obama wins in Wisconsin and Hawaii--may help determine the Democratic nominee by the ides of March." My thinking went like this: After eight (and maybe 10 straight wins), the Illinois senator will lead at that point by more than 100 pledged delegates--but it won't be enough to reach magic number (2,025) by the end of primary season in June. Looking ahead, the 400 uncommitted Democratic superdelegates--the only people with the power to put either Clinton or Obama over the top--will have a choice: 1) prolong the contest through the convention, ensuring a messy, divisive battle involving Florida, Michigan and back room wheeling and dealing or 2) move en masse to the "people's choice" and get busy uniting the party for November.

But is Obama's tipping point coming sooner than even I expected? Yesterday afternoon, the New York Times (among others) reported that Rep. John Lewis, an elder statesman from the civil rights era and one of Hillary Clinton’s most prominent black supporters, is suddenly planning to cast his vote as a superdelegate for Obama in" hopes of preventing a fight at the Democratic convention." “In recent days, there is a sense of movement and a sense of spirit,” said Lewis. “Something is happening in America, and people are prepared and ready to make that great leap.” Hungry for news on a slow day, the media responded with typical breathlessness. "Floodgates could open," wrote Time's Mark Halperin, a reliable peddler of Beltway CW. "If Lewis breaks away, take whatever you thought Clinton’s chances of winning the nomination before and divide that number by as much as two — those would be the odds of her winning now."

Whoa, nelly. Not so fast. Sure, Lewis's "defection" is significant--but in a limited sense. For one thing, it's not really a defection; instead, Lewis is still endorsing Clinton (for the time being) but promising to cast his superdelegate vote at the convention with his Atlanta-area district, which voted three-to-one for Obama--if it comes to that. Lewis's confusing stance symbolizes a very specific political challenge facing black elected superdelegates--and black elected superdelegates only. If Obama maintains his lead among pledged delegates, members of the Congressional Black Caucus who have endorsed Clinton will face enormous pressure to switch sides. Like Lewis, many represent districts where Obama earned 85 to 90 percent support among black voters--meaning to defy their constituents and cast a vote that lots of people would see as stealing the election from the first black president would be tantamount to political suicide.

Over the past few weeks, there's been a slow drift of superdelegate support from Clinton to Obama. Not counting Lewis, Obama has gained 12 superdelegates since Feb. 5, while Clinton has lost a net of three. But until we start seeing a greater number of pols making the leap to Obama without such political pressure, I think it's a bit early to say the floodgates have opened. It may happen; it may not. But any potential tipping point is still a ways away.

I think that we need to realy questiob Obama's truthfullness or question his judgement. In either case, the country should seriously reconsider any support for such a candidate. It is frightening that Obama's paltform really emphasizes "change" and his real agenda would seem to indicate other.

We need to change our support to Senator Clinton and assure her success in November.

DW is only a web editing tool to help you build websites.

Making top site like amazon.com requires good eesign %26amp; web programming skills. DW won't do that for you , you will :)
Reply:Dreamweaver is a web development tool that does not have e-commerce or social network site capabilities built in. If you don't know how to write the code yourself you will need to buy additional software. Look for integrated software templates online.

Trouble with Yahoo! 360?

This is the error message I receive when trying to get to Yahoo! 360. Won't there be some kind of notice prior to Yahoo! getting rid of 360 before we are locked out if that is what this is?

I would at least like to be able to find a different Blog/social networking site I prefer to transfer things too.

I have no plans disclosing my orientation to anyone at least for 10 yrs.But if someone asks me,"Do you support homosexuality?",I'll say an outright,"yes".

On a social networking site,I have my profile with all my coll and school friends;my point is that on my profile I am not anonymous as I am here at Y!A.

So recently,I joined some "Support for Homosexuality" type of communities there.And I got friend requests from 2 girls from my own country.Genrally,I don't think much and approve all requests even from ppl I havn't met.

so,I did that and later when I saw their profiles,I discovered that they declared themselves as gay and interested in frnds and dating.

So,gay girls+my own country=ppl like me who think like me and face problems like I do.

what I liked about them was that I did not see any offensive or porn content on their profiles,they seemed to be just admitting that they were gay,making online frnds who r not homophobic and can accept them as they are.

so like is this OK...

I'm straight, and I had no trouble understanding you! You're worried it might seem dishonest not to disclose your sexual preference to these online women who say they're lesbian. But hey, this is the VIRTUAL world, and all of us who aren't terminally naive are protecting our privacy on here. Everyone is keeping SOMETHING in reserve. You have a perfect right to your privacy.

If these women are as mature as you say, I am sure they would respect your decision, not only due to the perils of disclosure on-line, but because of your youth.

You are very wise to make careful judgements about what to disclose and to whom. Just carry on with your life and get your financial independence as you planned!

Reply:I guess it would depend on who exactly you're wanting it to be o'kay with. I could understand if a gay friend on your list would be offended by you wanting to associate with them, but not be associated with them by others (kind of like by hiding the fact that you're gay makes you seem ashamed of it, and thereby ashamed of their homosexuality as well). But I could understand where many wouldn't be bothered by it at all, as most of them probably had a difficult time coming out to their families too, or haven't come out yet at all and are in the same boat.

This is just one of those situations where you can't please everyone, so you have to please yourself. If others criticize the way you choose to do it, tell them to get over it.

I am attracted to her.but,i do believe in marriage so I only wanted to be friends with her even though I have since left my wife.She is still married.she was kind and talked to me practically everyday the first week I moved out of the apt I shared with my wife and seemed to want to help me pickout new furniture and decorate.Up until last night she was still helping me picking out stuff online. finally i have made all the necessary purchases which was to be delivered today so I invited her to ask her husband over for drinks tomorrow night. I'm trying to find out the % of kids that lie about there age to get onto social networking web sites such as myspace. Or even the number of children who lie about their age in a chat room. I've googled it and all I get is info about kids who have been solicited online. Or statistics on children lying at different ages.

Our son does and he is 15. So do most of his friends. They just can't wait to grow up and take on adult responsibilities. If they only had a real clue! My older stepdaughter did this too when she was a teen. Now she wishes life was easy like when she was a teen. So, that's two out of three kids that lied about their ages in our family!

I have this childhood friend whom I haven't seen for like 17 years. He has found me through a social networking website around 2 years ago. We kept in touch for like a year though emails and IM’s before finally seeing each again for the first time after several years (He lives in another country by the way). I thought everything was fine until we came across each other's religion. We went back home and that's when my nightmare began. He started attacking my beliefs (through IM’s). At first it was fine with me since I am used to such things but he became really personal. He even insulted my family. I've had enough of everything when he told me that "you are going to hell." I blocked him that instant in my list. I also blocked him in my email. Uhm, would he know that I have done that? Because I can still see him when he is online. And what will happen exactly when I block someone? Will I still appear on his list? Just want to know. Thank you very much. ^^,

What will happen when you "block" someone in YM?
I beleive you are still shown on his list but never online. The emails and IMs will still go through but be filtered out so you don't see them. If you want to just delet his user name off your im so you will not see it too. Since you have already blocked him it should not change anything for you.

I would like to know because many of the students attending my school talk about their "MySpaces" and how they talk to their friends online this way. Many of the students are younger than eleven years. I have heard frightening stories about the dangers of this website. I want to know if it would be safe if I used a pseudonym or didn't allow people I didn't know to access my profile or personal information. I know that www.myspace.com does not give out personal information for users who say that they are under sixteen years of age. www.myspace.com seems like a fun website to me. I would rather have adults who know about www.myspace.com answer this question, but if anyone else has any suggestions for me regarding this issue, I would appreciate those suggestions also. Also, please let me know some other age-appropriate social networking websites if you do not feel www.myspace.com is appropriate for children under 14 years of age. I am only familiar with the music section of myspace, however, I believe that myspace and most other sites should be deemed suitable for young people for the following reasons.

I think it good that people of both genders, all ages and many colours, creeds and faiths can communicate with each other. Children can learn a great deal from certain sites, this one in particular.

Obviously there are dangers to children on the web but banning sites or banning children from using them is no longer an option. Some of the children are smarter with computers than we are. Instead children should be made aware of the dangers and taught how to deal with them. This way they will develop into adults who are accustomed to dealing with life's problems.

The steps you mention to avoid giving out information sound sensible to me. Children should also be aware that perverts can pose as other children. The sensible thing here is to never mention where you live on any public forum and never meet anyone in person who you have met on the web.
Reply:when i was in high school my friends always told me how i should have got a myspace for myself. but i remained loyal to xanga. once however, i really opened one and oh yeah i was quite shocked. i was going through people's profiles and i figured out that it was one of the cheapest social networks ever. there were too many people who had porno sites there, for some reason female students of my school posted pics of them half naked, there were filthy ads of male enhancement as comments on profiles and swingers date offers. moreover, the site is filled with bugs and hackers...i heard of so many people whose passwords got stolen.

the site isnt so suitable for kids over 14 either...at least thats how i saw it.....there r better sites out there like my yearbook and facebook. they are sophisticated.

Hi everyone, I was hoping to get some advice on what to do about an guy who has copied my photo and has created bogus accounts on a social networking site. I feel so ill at the thought of him contacting people under my identity but I'm powerless to do anything about it :( have reported him to the site moderator but nothing has happened. Please does anyone have any advice? It's so scary.

PS: I know I shouldn't have put my photo online, but I thought I could trust people more :( what a sucky way to learn

I am not sure, but fairly sure that such impersonation is a crime, and may (or may not) be considered identity theft.

So, it's wise to see if you can contact a person of power (I'd say the police, but it's definitely NOT a good idea) to see what you can do.

More simply, just tell everyone you know the guy isn't you, and the only way to confirm it's you is by a secret code or something.

In the future, consider setting privacy settings or using a fake name. That way, you can prevent anything else like this from happening again.

A federal grand jury has subpoenaed Beverly Hills-based MySpace as part of a probe into the suicide of Megan Meier, 13, who thought she was communicating with a 16-year-old boy on the social networking site, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Megan Meier commited suicide after being harassed on My Space. The messages turned out to be fake sent from an account overseen by the mother of a former friend of the girl. I can't imagine a mother harassing and setting up a young girl (who she knew was mentally ill) like that. It's a shame there are no laws to punish her. How can a mother do that to another mother's child, especially knowing Megan was being treated for a mental illness? My thoughts are when are parents going to accept responsibility for what their kids are up to in the first place? Kids get into those situations because they are vulnerable. It is tragic, but enough is enough when we expect the government to enter our personal lives in more and more ways to take care of what should be family business.

I think the predators are drastically immoral, but have we asked the government to close down the Catholic Church to protect children from molesters in that organization?

You probably won't like this answer, but it may be time to turn to her parents - if you're under eighteen. Is there a way you can tell them anonymously? What she is doing is dangerous and she may find herself over her head faster than she can control it. Her parents would definitely want to know. It's their personal info she is giving away, too. You need to take this step to save her - it would be terrible if something happened to her and you stood back and did nothing. You need to think if her friendship is worth more than her safety. then she added me, and we talked for a few minutes, then i went to bed.

Prosecutors: Sex offender used Web to meet child victim's mother

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- A convicted sexual predator raped the 6-year-old daughter of a woman he met through the popular social networking Web site MySpace.com, prosecutors said.

Michael Kairis pleaded guilty Monday to rape and gross sexual imposition in a deal with the Franklin County prosecutor's office, which agreed not to seek a life sentence so the girl could avoid testifying in court.

Kairis, 33, of Columbus, faces up to 11 1/2 in prison at sentencing July 11.

Common Pleas Judge John Bessey rejected a request Monday from defense attorney Timothy Pierce to release Kairis from the county jail and place him on house arrest until sentencing so he could care for sick relatives and spend time with his new wife.

Brant Cook, an assistant county prosecutor, said Kairis met the girl's mother in August after he contacted the woman online and set up a date. The woman's Web page mentioned she had a daughter, Cook said.

Kairis was convicted of gross sexual imposition and labeled a sexual predator in August 2000 after he pleaded guilty to molesting an 8-year-old relative. He was paroled in 2003.

You forgot to mention that Megan was a challenged young lady and the woman knew she had emotional problems. The worse thing about this is that this was an adult acting like a spoiled child. I have never known my father since my mom left him before I had any memory of him and I never had the opportunity to meet him since. I've always known that someday I would like to meet or at least contact him. Well, today my mom found him on a social networking site. She called me to give me the link. I am grown and out of her house but she let me know that she wants me to proceed very cautiously and anonomously in contacting him. I agreed to this, especially since he admits to being bi polar in his biography. In his online posts he seems like a very decent person but one can never tell. So, first of all, what is the best way to begin contact with him? On the site he's a member of it looks like I could email him if I register. I also found a page with his actual email address posted. So I don't know if I should email him through the site or on my own. Also, whichever way I contact him, what are some tips to keep myself anonomous and safe? This type of thing is a complete first for me.

My suggestion would be to go through the site, to help keep anonymity. Perhap's you could ask question's about what it would be like to have children. You know, lightly chat it up. I'm no expert, but being Bipolar isn't the end of the world. Still yes, I would say be cautious. TIP: There are many Fathers/Mothers who wish everyday they had contact with an estranged child, but do not know how to contact them, or even if the child would want to be contacted. They're scared too! I have helped a few people I knew, contact their children they lost contact with, due to divorce. Fortunately it turned out to be a good thing!
Reply:If it is possible to get his REAL address, I highly recommend sending a snail-mail letter. It will be less obtrusive, less likely to get lost in the world of spam, harder to delete, and more likely to make an impression. Either way, just tell him who you are and why you are writing and ask him how he is doing. Bi-polar does not make people insane or anything. My wife is bi-polar and perfectly normal! That is the least of your problems. The most likely problem will be that he may simply not be interested in talking to you. Be prepared for the worst... but hope for the best. Good luck!

My BF is long distance and is diagnosed as very bipolar (he's on meds). he recently went through a traumatic stress (friend tried to commit suicide) and he's gone into a depressive episode. He has been avoiding all of my phone calls and e-mails... except i think he's talking to many new girls on his social networking page. Recently, he sent me an e-mail saying that he doesn't know what's going on and he misses me. He wanted to know if I was seeing someone else. I said I wasn't.. he said he wasn't and he's been very sad... then he started avoiding me again. I don't understand bipolar at all. During a severe depressive state, would someone ignore the people they are close to and have random chats with strangers? I know he's chatting online because I see signs on his page. Please answer only if you understand bipolar... I am too confused already. Thanks. :-)

Maybe it's easier for him to share his feelings with people he doesn't know. I'm not bipolar, but I have been diagnosed with depression. I know when I have been really depressed, I have avoided family and friends because it took too much energy to interact with them, even over the phone. I would feel like I had to act happy around them, so as to not bring them down by talking about my own issues. But online, people don't know you, so you don't have to act a certain way for certain people. There's a large degree anonymity in being online and talking to people...therefore there's not as much need to act a certain way. Good luck with this situation.
Reply:Well, the more he goes into his depressive state, the more he will distance himself from you, and other close ones, but that doesn't mean that he s gonna get closer to other people, that he doesn't know. In fact, he might try to distance himself from them also. Reply:Well my boyfriend of 2 years is very bi-polar only your lucky because mine doesn't treat his. Back in January he quit his job and couldn't even get out to go to the grocery store to do some shopping without going into a panick attack. I tried and tried to help and to understand and be there but, he couldn't tell me what was wrong. I walked up one day and he was talking with a neighbor about how he felt. He couldn't talk to me but, to someone else I was so confused and hurt I just let it go. Maybe sometimes they need someones point of view that is on the outside looking in so that the opinion is just an opinion. Bi polar disorder is a horrible illness to have and I am sorry it doesn't get better. But, at least he is taking the medicine he needs. I hate to tell you to move on but, maybe you should just look for someone who can appreciate what you have to offer and share your life with someone else.

Reply:If he is truly bi-polar and not merely misdiagnosed AND he is your BF (boy friend?) AND he is long distance:

1) you have no idea as to what is really going on with him

2) you can't help/save him ESPECIALLY from a long distance

3) your relationship with him should take a way way WAY back seat to your helping him help himself (if you can)

4) online and long-distance relationships are safe and artificial to someone who may be bipolar and/or manic.

How old are you people? If you are kids (19 and under) which it sounds like, you are way out of your league to help yourselves. If not, I still suggest you both find mental health professionals ASAP and seek intimate, mature and non-electronic relationships.
Reply:I'm srry about what happened. Someone I know had an anxiety attack. They, too, were bipolar. When an episode happens, they are depressed and they start having crazy thoughts. They might be a bit mellowdramatic. One second they're happy, the next they're sad.

AUSTIN, Texas -- A 14-year-old girl who says she was sexually assaulted by another user of MySpace.com sued the social networking Web site Monday, claiming it does not take sufficient steps to protect underage members.

The girl says a 19-year-old man lied in his profile about being a senior on a football team to gain her trust and phone number.

Pete Solis was arrested in May on a charge of sexual assault of a child. He could not immediately be reached Monday evening.

The suit alleges that MySpace has "absolutely no meaningful protections or security measures to protect underage users."

"(MySpace) has got to take this seriously," said attorney Carl Barry, who is representing the girl and her mother. The suit seeks $30 million.

In a statement, MySpace said it is committed to the safety of its members.

"We take aggressive measures to protect our members," said Hemanshu Nigam, chief security officer. "Ultimately, Internet safety is a shared responsibility. We encourage everyone on the Internet to engage in smart Web practices and have open family dialogue about how to apply offline lessons in the online world."

I'm doing a survey regarding Internet. What do you guys think you need the most from Internet? Any kind of service or anything you can think of will do. (e.g. social networking such as friendster, facebook or ticket reservation system, or a website that let you watch movie online and etc..)

You can mix multiple services together, not necessary must be only one. For example, you can suggest a system/service/website that let you watch video while composing your own music for the video, edit and add description to it. After that, you can link the video to your blog and share with others. Something like a mashup.

Be creative and innovative. Just give your suggestion whatever you can think of. You can give few suggestions too (limited to max. 6).

I was already addicted to the internet but when Yahoo Answers came along the addiction went to a whole nother level. There are way too many sites I can get addicted to now and many times I find my internet addiction (things like asking Q's on Yahoo, posting on message board, using google, social networking) causing me to shirk work, happiness, and life in general. In terms of the effects of online addiction to my life it IS SEVERE.

For me, I am procrastinating doing things that I don't really want to do. As someone else said, a part of it is also wanting to be right, validating my own opinion. It also comes down to boredom and loneliness, reaching out to others. But it's like mental masturbation. It doesn't really solve the problem, because the others are not really there in a real, tangible sense. I do have friends and family and spend time with them, but I still have way too much free time on my hands. And finally, I do have an obsessive-compulsive tendency. But that's just me.

Take some time to sit quietly and ask yourself what need are trying to fulfill through this interaction online?

What are you avoiding? Do you have a pattern of obsessive-compulsive behaviors in other areas of your life?

If you can't get to the bottom of it on your own, it might be a good idea to schedule a few sessions with a therapist to help you talk through it.

Reply:I do know how you feel acually.. I would be awake for 3 nights straight cause I would rather be online then sleeping. My mom made me stay with my grandma who doesn't have a computer for a couple weeks.. I felt like I was gonna go insane at first, but after a while you get over it and find other things to do, like watch tv or clean or play cards.. Just give your computer to someone who can keep it safe for a while and try living without it for a couple weeks, then take it back and see if you can have it in your house without being on the internet all the time.

I would tell you to start a blog but I know that you already have one but maybe you should consider updating it once in a while. Also you might consider running a contest of some sort. But in the end, if people don't like what you are offering them, no matter how much effort you put on promoting your site you wont see much result.

We met nearly 3 months ago on an online dating site. After talking online for 3 weeks, we met in person while he was planning to move here for work. He has lived here for over 6 weeks. We act like a couple. We frequently go out on dates, kiss, cuddle, and sleep over. He met my parents and got me a present on my birthday. I know that neither of us are currently seeing anyone else and we both really like each other. But we are both listed as single on our various social networking sites. He still hasn't updated a lot of things on his profiles (like his new city), so I wonder if he's waiting for a cue from me? I want advice on how (or if) I should talk to him about this. THE next time you see an employee hunched intently over the computer, don't imagine he or she is slaving over the office accounts or a report for the next shareholders meeting.

Employees are more likely to be whiling away the hours on the social networking site Facebook, a report says.

Richard Cullen of SurfControl, an internet filtering company, estimates the site may be costing Australian businesses $5 billion a year. "Our analysis shows that Facebook is the new, and costly, time-waster," he said.

The report calculates that if an employee spends an hour each day on Facebook, it costs the company more than $6200 a year. There are about 800,000 workplaces in Australia.

"There are Facebook groups dedicated to slacking off at work," Dr Cullen said.

"Some of them are specific to employees of a single company."

Facebook - the name is lifted from the term used in American universities for student directories that list names and photographs - has exploded as an online recreation in the past six months. Australians had taken up the trend with a frenzy, said Dr Cullen, and the country now ranked fifth in the world, behind the US, Canada, Britain and Norway.

On July 29, 195,000 people had registered for Facebook's Australian network. Ten days later the figure had jumped to 224,000.

One anonymous enthusiast, quoted in the SurfControl study, said: "Of course everyone checks Facebook at work, duh! I don't have neither internet nor a TV at home because I like doing more useful things with my time when I'm off work."

Another user was even more candid. "I work full time as a tax accountant," she said. "For the past two weeks I'd say I have averaged about 15 minutes of work per day."

The site has even replaced internal messaging systems and emails, themselves legendary guzzlers of work time, for communicating within offices.

Some employers were restricting employees' internet use or blocking the sites, Dr Cullen said. But others are establishing protocols for using social websites.

One fear is that Facebook users can make company systems vulnerable to hackers.

"It's only a matter of time before a security loophole is discovered and exploited." Dr Cullen said.

Marriage and Myspace...?

I recently stumbled upon a great deal of answers in M%26amp;D where several women claimed that a married man has no business having a myspace account. My question is Why?

Anyone who thinks that myspace is mostly an online dating site is very uninformed. In a nutshell myspace is a tool for social networking. My fiance has used it to get in contact with several of her old friends from high school. Because of this networking ability, she has been able to reunite with many good friends, %26amp; I have become friends with them too. I have also been able to reach old friends I thought I may never hear from again.

In addition many small time musicians use myspace to help their music reach the general public (radio and MTV cater to record producers and advertisers). Listeners of a certain genre and fans of a certain band can find more music they like that they never would have found without myspace.

My friends %26amp; I benefit from the event planner. It helps organize date planning for parties %26amp; more.

Marriage and Myspace...?
My husband and I both have a Myspace account, he has his own as do I. We have a great marriage and there are no trust issues. He and I both do as we please and contact who we please. I trust him and he trusts me...no questions asked. He found old friends, I also found old friends. Marriage is based on open communication and trust..we have both so there are no issues, ever!

There are ways to make it clear that you are not on my space for dating purposes and if you are carful of what kinds of things you have on your page or how you talk to people in the comments, there is nothing wrong with it! Also you can set your page so that people have to be approved by you before anyone can get onto your page! I have a my space and I am married with 3 children! It is fun to be able to keep in contact with people that you don't see often or just putts around on it! You can post pictures so all your friends can see what is going on in your life...how big your kids are getting...what your new hair-cut looks like!! Who ever told you it was not okay for a married man to have a my space account may have some trust issues in his/her life and are very insecure with themselves or there significant other, and if your wife has no problem with it then you are good to go!!
Reply:This is a very good question. The problem is not myspace in itself, it's this primitive idea of "if he married me, why would he need to socialize or contact his friends from high school? Am I not enough?"

Many times men and women look for issues where there are none. You see it with porn as well. So many people are willing to throw the relationship down the drain over little petty issues like a myspace account, or a spouse not giving his email password to his wife, and then comes the question "why would he not show me his password?" and automatically believe there is some cheating going on. It's an issue of not trusting the spouse, and the person not trusting him/herself to be good enough.
Reply:If people want to cheat they can find people to do it with any place online or off...myspace isn't any more of a villian than any other website.

I can see an issue with one's partner having profiles on sites that are primarily used for dating, but social sites like myspace, hi5, netrelate, and others shouldn't be an issue (unless the person is using them for inappropriate contact).

It basically comes down to an issue of trust...how much do you trust your partner to keep online contacts at an appropriate level, and not cyber with others or use the sites to set up clandestine meetings. Someone who would do those things, won't be deterred by lack of a page on myspace...

Reply:I aggree. My fiance and I are always arguing about myspace. I have an account and it has helped me to connect with so many good friends from the past. And stay in touch with new friends. He has the notion that anyone over 20 who uses myspace is a looser. I try to tell him how wrong he is but its just no use :( I think sometimes that he is jealous about it.

Reply:I have a My Space account and so does my husband. I personally use it to connect with friends and people that I graduated from high school with 12 years ago. Everybody has moved on with their lives, but it is good to see what people look like, their kids, their families, their interests, etc. I mean, I think people do use My Space to flirt and find relationships, however, if you are married then you should know better than to be doing all of that. I see nothing wrong with a married person being on My Space as long as they are on there for the right reason. Also, I think they should have their profile set to married and they should only be on there for friends and networking, in my opinion.

The problem: a lot of women/men find a spouse with a hidden page that doesn't mention their married status. THAT is an issue.
Reply:Its not that myspace is bad, its what it allows people to do. Myspace and other chat,online forums make it so easy for people to connect and do things they wouldn't normally do. Truthfully, married people or someone in a relationship are probably better off setting it to private to avoid any potential problems. Your friends and people you want can still add you as friends. These online forums have helped caused alot of mis-trust and broken up many relationships. Yes, myspace can be good, if used the right way.
Reply:Well it can be a great forum, no doubt, but people are going to use it the way they see fit, and plenty of them use it for purposes other than the 'up and up.' However, that's a personal, marriage issue, not the responsibility of the forum. If people get on there to flirt, then they are missing something in their marriage, or just basically uncaring and selfish. That's why I spend a lot of time flirting with and admiring my man, he doesn't need to get attention any where else.

Yet as the Silicon Valley entrepreneur Andrew Keen points out in his provocative new book, “The Cult of the Amateur,” Web 2.0 has a dark side as well.

Mr. Keen argues that “what the Web 2.0 revolution is really delivering is superficial observations of the world around us rather than deep analysis, shrill opinion rather than considered judgment.” In his view Web 2.0 is changing the cultural landscape and not for the better. By undermining mainstream media and intellectual property rights, he says, it is creating a world in which we will “live to see the bulk of our music coming from amateur garage bands, our movies and television from glorified YouTubes, and our news made up of hyperactive celebrity gossip, served up as mere dressing for advertising.” This is what happens, he suggests, “when ignorance meets egoism meets bad taste meets mob rule.”

This book, which grew out of a controversial essay published last year by The Weekly Standard, is a shrewdly argued jeremiad against the digerati effort to dethrone cultural and political gatekeepers and replace experts with the “wisdom of the crowd.” Although Mr. Keen wanders off his subject in the later chapters of the book — to deliver some generic, moralistic rants against Internet evils like online gambling and online pornography — he writes with acuity and passion about the consequences of a world in which the lines between fact and opinion, informed expertise and amateurish speculation are willfully blurred.

For one thing, Mr. Keen says, “history has proven that the crowd is not often very wise,” embracing unwise ideas like “slavery, infanticide, George W. Bush’s war in Iraq, Britney Spears.” The crowd created the tech bubble of the 1990s, just as it created the disastrous Tulipmania that swept the Netherlands in the 17th century.

Mr. Keen also points out that Google search results — which answer “search queries not with what is most true or most reliable, but merely what is most popular” — can be manipulated by “Google bombing” (which “involves simply linking a large number of sites to a certain page” to “raise the ranking of any given site in Google’s search results”). And he cites a recent Wall Street Journal article reporting that hot lists on social networking Web sites are often shaped by a small number of users: that at Digg.com, which has 900,000 registered users, 30 people were responsible at one point for submitting one-third of the postings on the home page; and at Netscape.com, a single user was behind 217 stories over a two-week period, or 13 percent of all stories that reached the most popular list in that period.

Because Web 2.0 celebrates the “noble amateur” over the expert, and because many search engines and Web sites tout popularity rather than reliability, Mr. Keen notes, it’s easy for misinformation and rumors to proliferate in cyberspace. For instance, the online encyclopedia Wikipedia (which relies upon volunteer editors and contributors) gets way more traffic than the Web site run by Encyclopedia Britannica (which relies upon experts and scholars), even though the interactive format employed by Wikipedia opens it to postings that are inaccurate, unverified, even downright fraudulent. This year it was revealed that a contributor using the name Essjay, who had edited thousands of Wikipedia articles and was once one of the few people given the authority to arbitrate disputes between writers, was a 24-year-old named Ryan Jordan, not the tenured professor he claimed to be.

Since contributors to Wikipedia and YouTube are frequently anonymous, it’s hard for users to be certain of their identity — or their agendas. Postings about political candidates, for instance, can be made by opponents disguising their motives; and propaganda can be passed off as news or information. For that matter, as Mr. Keen points out, the idea of objectivity is becoming increasingly passé in the relativistic realm of the Web, where bloggers cherry-pick information and promote speculation and spin as fact. Whereas historians and journalists traditionally strived to deliver the best available truth possible, many bloggers revel in their own subjectivity, and many Web 2.0 users simply use the Net, in Mr. Keen’s words, to confirm their “own partisan views and link to others with the same ideologies.” What’s more, as mutually agreed upon facts become more elusive, informed debate about important social and political issues of the day becomes more difficult as well.

Although Mr. Keen’s objections to the publishing and distribution tools the Web provides to aspiring artists and writers sound churlish and elitist — he calls publish-on-demand services “just cheaper, more accessible versions of vanity presses where the untalented go to purchase the veneer of publication” — he is eloquent on the fallout that free, user-generated materials is having on traditional media.

Mr. Keen argues that the democratized Web’s penchant for mash-ups, remixes and cut-and-paste jobs threaten not just copyright laws but also the very ideas of authorship and intellectual property. He observes that as advertising dollars migrate from newspapers, magazines and television news to the Web, organizations with the expertise and resources to finance investigative and foreign reporting face more and more business challenges. And he suggests that as CD sales fall (in the face of digital piracy and single-song downloads) and the music business becomes increasingly embattled, new artists will discover that Internet fame does not translate into the sort of sales or worldwide recognition enjoyed by earlier generations of musicians.

“What you may not realize is that what is free is actually costing us a fortune,” Mr. Keen writes. “The new winners — Google, YouTube, MySpace, Craigslist, and the hundreds of start-ups hungry for a piece of the Web 2.0 pie — are unlikely to fill the shoes of the industries they are helping to undermine, in terms of products produced, jobs created, revenue generated or benefits conferred. By stealing away our eyeballs, the blogs and wikis are decimating the publishing, music and news-gathering industries that created the original content those Web sites ‘aggregate.’ Our culture is essentially cannibalizing its young, destroying the very sources of the content they crave.”

i'm now 3o years old- ive aged physically- im bald, ive had a horrendously traumaqtic life and ive missed out on being employed, having ' any ' relationships basically everything, education, qualifications never happened etc.

1) i have borderline personality disorder and ptsd.

2) i live in a small one bedroom flat, i own no possessions except a computer....i live on sickness welfare.

3) ive lived on my own for 3 years - never been employed - never made any relationships in life with either gender.

4) ive been refered for therapy and have to wait.

5) i have a long mental health past, record %26amp; a minor criminal one going back 8 years.

6) dont have any social support network except a few online friends %26amp; parents who can be domineering at times and who ive not always gotten along with.

7) i have physical worries : frequent urination, aching joints that are weak - cracking in the skin on the head of my penis - waiting to see a dermatologist.

8) i have physical imperfections.

Well, if I had to have only one posession, I guess it would definitely be a computer, so that's good news!

Wow. You have goals - lots of them - that's excellent - and their totally realistic too! But pick ONE or TWO for right now (or just part of one) that you will start working on this week, preferably ones that will be the easiest to do right now. For me, I would have one of them be my health. Work with what you have - where you are right now - start slow, but do something small everyday, or at least try to do it everyday. If you miss a day or two, that's okay, just start over when you feel up to it. If you can't DO something positive one day, at least SAY something positive to yourself that day, like, "I'm gonna make it." or "Deep down inside, I know I'm trying my best right now and that's good enough." But really believe it. Here are a couple of examples of things you can start working on: Start eating better - start trying to eat as many RAW fruits and vegetables (preferably vegetables) as you can, start taking vitamins, especially fish oil and / or flax seed oil, start exercising and / or working out. Walk, or find something heavy you can use as a weight to lift - I seen a video on You Tube where the guy did a workout of 23 different exercises with just a sledgehammer! It's called, "Top Personal Trainer Reveals 23 Sledgehammer Exercises". There's also a video out by a guy who shows how you can use simple things around the house to give yourself a workout, I can't think of the name of it right now, but the point I'm trying to make is that if you start using your imagination you'll be able to come up with all sorts of ideas - I'm sure you've heard the saying, "Where There's A Will, There's A Way". And remember, the nutrition and exercise will serve a dual purpose for you: not only will they improve your overall physical health, they will also improve your mental health - that IS a scientific fact. Don't worry about the things you can't change right now - like your teeth, or your baldness - lots of people have have problems with their teeth (like me) and lots of people loose their hair (ask my husband - he'll verify how much hair I've been losing this past year - gobs of it everyday - and I'm a woman! - it's scary, my mother wears a wig and if I have to some day then I guess I'll just have to!). See if you can find out from the internet any therapeutic exercises you can do for the fingers (knuckles) of your right hand and the ankle - maybe some soaking - don't worry about the bent finger. Right now I'm trying to figure out what I can do for my own neck and right shoulder and arm (torn rotator cuff and biceps tendon). I also walk with a limp in my right leg from a blown disk that took the doctors over ten years to diagnose.

Try helping people and watch how much better you're gonna start feeling about yourself. You can't do it everyday, just do it when you can. It doesn't have to be anything big - sometimes, just a "smile" will do the trick! ;-) If you have a hard time connecting with people as I do, practice on the very old and the very young first. They're not as judgemental. As far as finding a mate, take my advice and try not looking for one in the bars or where they serve a lot of alcohol. Go to "decent" outings and just practice being "friendly". Do they have "self-help" groups in your neck of the woods? That's where I've met all my bestest friends who ended up giving me all the love I needed when I needed it. Fix yourself up the best you can, wash, shave, comb your hair, put some clean clothes on that don't have tons of wrinkles or spots. I always try to save a couple outfits (or at least shirts) for when I'm going out so that they don't get all the "normal" stains and wear and tear that my usual clothes have. And PLEASE don't try TOO hard for two reasons: 1) you'll look too "anxious" and 2) it's not going to happen overnight and you'll feel let down at first. It's going to happen when you LEAST EXPECT IT, remember that. Just practice smiling and being friendly to everyone. Save your closest friends - the one's you really trust (online or otherwise) to dump the negative stuff. But remember, you've GOT TO dump the negative stuff regularly to get rid of it, otherwise it will just keep building and building and it will affect your personality when you go out to meet people.

And as far as your "background" - we all have backgrounds - and a lot of us have backgrounds that we're not too happy about. But we also all have futures. And what we do with our "todays" will lay the groundwork for our tomorrows. Focus on having: faith, hope and love and I don't think you can go very far off track. My best to you.

Reply:No, it is never too late to change. Hang on in there. You are starting to do things, like explaining how you feel. It takes alot of courage to do that even if it is on line. You are waiting to see a therapist. That's good. At least you will be able to talk to someone face to face. Therapy helps. Loads of people have mental health problems, you are not on your own. Have you thought about study to gain some qualifications. There are loads of courses at local education centres and as you are on benifits, they are free. (I think). Be like the AA take one day at a time and tackle the smaller things. We all have physical impairfections. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Be thankful for what you have even if you think you don't have much. Be patient with your family as people do not understand how to handle mental illness and good luck. You will improve. Believe in yourself

Start with the basics, you should get some more computer skills behind you, like going to evening classes at college (which are free to some, maybe yourself). You'll meet new ppl there and make friends, and most of all, have something to add to your CV. Once thats done, you can look for a job. Just look smart, and try to impress the employer.

If you get the job, you'll make more new friends, earn money, and get a step closer to leaving England.

Most ppl see things like this as 'too late' or 'it'll never work' but the fact is 'everything' start with small steps, and the bigger pictures what you make of those steps.

Reply:To get a good job, you'll have to be educated. You'll also have to have good hygiene. Companies aren't going to hire someone who comes in looking like a slob, smelling like a yob.

As for companionship, maybe you should look into paying for it by the hour, or a mail-order from some desperate country. No girl I know is going to want a ugly, pity-me lout.
Reply:first i would like to say i think your goals are too high right now, lower them abit, instead of wanting to move to a hot country, why not set a goal to join a local club or maybe do some voluntary work for a local charity... it sounds boring but you will make contact with real people, social interaction is important, when you start socializing again this will open new doors.

when you have any type of criminal conviction sometimes this can have an effect on the way you think people perceive you and indeed sometimes you would be right, this is why i have mentioned charity work, it will give you the chance to prove your worth as-well as enabling you to make new friends.

i really think that being brave enough to join a club or doing voluntary work is going to help and i would like to share with you that i too have borderline personality disorder, my partner is a reformed heroin %26amp; alcohol user,he too has been to prison several times for various things, now i am working towards my nvq 3 health and social care but each step has been taken slowly and cauciously.

Reply:Your goals aren't unreasonable - but you'll have to work for them. And I do mean work - you'll have to put in a lot of effort to acheive anything like what you're looking for.

First - to become happier in general, I suggest attending church, doing volunteer work, and talking to people. Make friends outside of the Internet. Depending on where you live, you could probably take evening classes - pottery classes, or language classes, or computer classes - something to get you out of the apartment and away from your computer, having fun. I don't know how education is in England, but if you could find a single low-stress class to take, that might help.

Second, it wouldn't hurt to try to get a job. Newspaper delivery, restaurant work, bus driver, janitor, postman - that sort of thing. Because your goals seem to require a fair amount of money, and you just don't have it. If you don't have the equivalent of a high school diploma, do what you can to get one. Do not ask your parents for handouts; you're thirty, and they helped you for years. Time to try it on your own.

Third, you may have trouble emigrating. Many countries set strict immigration quotas - for example, the U.S. looks for people with college degrees or professional skills. While it's good to have an eventual goal like emigration, you should be aware that you might be better off just moving to a different place within the United Kingdom.

Many of your health problems are annoying but you can deal with them. Take care of yourself to the best of your ability. To cite the old adage, slightly modified: if it hurts to lightly punch a punching bag, then DON'T. If you have aching joints, do stretching exercises; if you urinate frequently, cut your alcoholic beverage or soda pop consumption by one or two cans per day. (Both beer and soda can cause frequent urination.)

Read books, don't just spend time on the computer. These will give you more information and more resources, as well as making you more educated; this will help in job interviews.

As for "is this the end?" That's a silly question. You have no major health issues except mental troubles, which you are aware of. You will probably be able to work around those. You have supportive parents and don't have to worry about starving anytime soon; you have goals to work toward. You've actually got quite a bit.

And then there's the other, not-so-old adage, for when you're depressed: "Think before you make the coward's choice. Old age is not for sissies."

Reply:Shut up Dominic, Money can't change situations permanently, only for a short while. Remember that the things never change from the outside, until you change what is in yourself. You need to sit down, and think properly and hard. You need to find out where all this negativity is stemming from, are you going through the same pattern of though constantly, then break it. For me, prayer and meditation have really helped me to fight depression, you need to spend time with your inner self. I suggest some meditation everyday, for about 20-25 mins a day. Reply:When you are caught in the web of self pity it is very difficult to break free but most things which are worth doing or having require effort and lots of it. To my mind the most obvious way to break free of your perceived misfortunes is to apply to the volunteer agencies. As soon as you concentrate on helping someone less fortunate than yourself (they do exist!) you will find your troubles are lessened and you achieve a glow of achievement. But beware of offering your help simply to be praised for it as this is not always forthcoming. The benefit to you comes from the knowledge that you have been able to help someone else. It boosts your low self-esteem.

Be grateful you are young - 30 is young. Be grateful you have a roof over your head, food to eat and a computer. Be grateful your parents are living. Reply:No its never too late..there are 80 year olds graduating college 45 year olds with kids starting over and getting remarried....I mean the fact that you have mental "problems" is small most of America and the world does. Do you know how many people have come back from the brink of suicide or drug addiction? a lot. I know you can overcome this. I m gonna tell you as I always do: you have to find your own identity, then you will not have so many of these irrational abandonment fears and subsequent fear of rejection and so on and so forth. There arent really words to cure you, you have to experience this personal growth for yourself.

You say you only have a computer.. Do you have basic means to survive? Bathroom, stove, chairs, bed, etc?

You should see the free health clinic nearby. They can assess your physical status. See how much needs to be "fixed" for you to be perfectly healthy!

You should consider taking medications for your mental illnesses.

You can't erase the past, so ignore what's happened. No one will disrespect you for having needed help with mental health, and many people have criminal records.

You should go somewhere in your town, like a pool house or a bar, or a club, or a diner. Meet some friends who you think would like to become your "social network".

And your teeth - get the lowest price possible dentures or something you think will work for that situation. You might want to find a dentist who can help you out.

You might want to see a doctor about the knuckle pain. And the crooked finger can probably be fixed.

Flat feet. - Deal with that one. Sorry. But if you have torn part of it, you probably need physical therapy to fix it... if you don't think it's serious, then it will probably pass like nothing.

At a pharmacy you can buy face cream to make your skin softer, smoother and have smaller pores. Try something like Rite Aid.

The lines under your eyes could probably be fixed with a few hours more of sleep for a few days. Don't overdo it though.

The goals you have for yourself aren't exactly realistic, although they are goals of most upcoming adults and anyone struggling in life.

You won't be able to get a nice house unless you get a high paying job. Half the world can't afford houses near the beach. Start with what you say, trying to own your own house :]

You should go to community college and work towards getting a degree or something in computer tech.

Everyone has a soul mate.. it's just a matter of finding her for you! Do you ever go out, and meet women? If not, you should try. Someone will love you for you.

While you're out finding a wife, you can find some friends too! Hope it works well.

You have love. From the few online friends you have. And from your parents. And everyone who answers this question, trying to get your life back for you. Even me. :]

It's never to late to live your life. If you haven't gotten it right yet, keep trying and it'll come to you.

The thing is that she didn't just meet you. You have been speaking online for 2-3 months - getting to know eachother through words.

This is similair to my husband and I. We met online- talked for sometime before a real face to face meeting. I started to fall in love with him online - his thoughts, his words, his values while we talked through text.

Before we met face to face I said to myself if I meet this guy and I am remotely attracted to him physically like I was attracted to his inner being he would be the one for me. He walked in - my heart fell to my toes and we have been together for 7 years now.

So remember her feelings for you started online so she has not fallen for you on the first meeting. If anything this is a great way for someone to grow feelings for another - without the whole appearance thing getting in the way. It is words on words online - very sweet.

She probably started falling for you months ago and meeting you sealed the deal for her.

I work with an organization that is looking to recruit volunteers for a one day (although long event). The volunteers would have to go through a training (which would last up to 3 hours, although most people will take a 2 hour class).

With vacations, the New Year approaching and cold weather, we're finding it pretty difficult to recruit. My organization has no money in the budget to post in the newspaper or on the jobs section of Craigslist.

We plan to drop off applications and posters at our local libraries, local universities/colleges, and perhaps some community centers/places where there are message boards. We also intend to try online sites that are aimed toward recruiting, general social networks or other places to post items of interest.

Suggestions? Other ideas? Our event is in early Feb, and people have to be signed up as soon as possible.

Recommendations on how to recruit volunteers?
If you can use High School age kids, you may have good luck contacting the schools. Some High Schools require kids to volunteer a certain number of hours - so if you can provide documentation, this would work well with them.

Otherwise, I'd ask what your organization does? Find a group that ties into its interests. Also, talk to existing volunteer groups such as the Jaycees, Lyons, etc. Many groups are happy to be approached about providing manpower to other groups.

Write a press release and fax it to all local radio stations as a PSA, as well as to all local university and college volunteering offices (this may double as the jobs office), as well as to all fraternities and sororities in your area. You could also do a mailing to local churches, temples and mosques, as well as service clubs (Kiwanis, Rotary, Lions, etc.)

If children/teens are allowed, fax/mail/email it to local high schools as well.

Your web site should have COMPLETE details about this activity -- absolutely everything a person would need to know to participate. Include information about what mass transit (exact bus number) and parking options people have for both the training and the event.

Track the results of these recruitment campaigns -- everyone at your organization who answers the phone or email should know how to direct those who write or call to express interest on what their next step should be, and you should know how many calls are generated as a result of your outreach efforts (that means asking people "How did you hear about us?").

I'm starting do the whole online dating thing and I saw this one guys profile on this social networking/dating site. I think he is SOOO hot!! : P I sent him and 'friend' request (it's not a friend request per say, I'm just not sure what the website calls them : P ) But I had to because I loved what he wrote on his profile. The thing is though, the site shows your last login, and I noticed he hasn't logged in for a month, keep in mind this a networking AND dating site b/c I'm aware that if he hadn't logged in on a strictly dating site, that may mean he's taken ; ) However, he has his AIM screen name on his page. I was thinking, I haven't the slightest idea when he'll log back on, but I really want to say something, even if I got nothing in return, as the saying goes, you'll never know if you don't try : ) So GUYS, if a girl you didn't know contacted you and said something like "hi, I found your page on so and so and I really liked what you said in your profile" or something...

As a man, in all honesty, it causes you to think that this girl must have something in common with you.

If she just seems like a flirt that does that with everyone, then you discount her real quick.

The problem is that many girls try to cover up their forwardness as though they do it all the time or that they just found the guy a little "interesting." IOW, they appear as they are bored and just looking. Whereas they may really be covering up someone they think is real special so they won't be embarrassed.

I have an online business which doesn't really need geotrust. We are a social networking site which helps people sell their second hand phones through our site by finding people who want to buy those phones.

people pay us money for posting their ads. That's how we make money.

Now we have noticed that many buyers are very nervous about buying from our sellers because its online business. We thought getting a Geotrust might help although it doesn't really have anything to do with our business.

I just wanted to get your opinion on this. Is it a good idea to get Geotrust? Or do you recommend any other certificate for our case? I really don't know much about this.

Geotrust is a good Idea, you can go with that. Apart from that, you can get testimonials from big clients and put in on your site. That gets you a good trust from the visitors.

Further, you can also sell different products. Not only second hand mobile phones. Think about this!! I suggest you should at least give the price of the original new mobiles for free of cost, and use news letters for better promotions and offers. Compare your price with the other world and show the difference to buyers.

From the sellers point, any seller looks for a good price where the buyer try for less cost!! So, give some offers to the seller as " sell xxx number of phones and get one used phone for free " etc., and for buyer, " buy xxx phones and get one used phone for free" etc., that's just an example. But, you can think creative.

Further, do as much publicity as you can and get the trust from everywhere possible. Track the data, from where the more sales are happening, and rate the areas of importance and concentrate on them!!

That should help you a lott..
